Kyra and Jordan’s Spring Engagement Session at Sunrise Silo Acres! But hold on tight, because this ain’t your average stroll in the park! We’re taking you to a farm! So buckle up and prepare for a tale of romance, playfulness, and a whole lot of farm-fueled fun!

A Spring Engagement Session at Sunrise Silo Acres – Gone to the Dogs!

Kyra and Jordan have GOT to be one of the sweetest couples I’ve ever worked with. I could tell when we met that things were going to go very well, and I wasn’t wrong! They came to Sunrise Silo Acres prepared with Murphy (their very dapper and very well behaved doggo-even if was more interested in Dandelions than me ) and ideas for photos they wanted. This is always a bonus because it helps give me a feel for what you like and don’t like! It provides a very solid jumping off point for our work together.

Murphy LOVED walking the grounds at Sunrise Silo Acres, and it was so much fun to see him enjoy himself. Not many people know this, but we are adopting a dog of our own next month (you heard it here first!). It was so lovely to see how well dogs and Sunrise Silo Acres go together. It is just a joy and privilege to be able to host couples and families for sessions in this space that we are just so proud of! Kyra and Jordan are self-proclaimed outdoorspeople. I knew that Sunrise Silo Acres would be the perfect location for their engagement shoot! When we were walking the property, I kept taking them further and further in to some of our more secret, less travelled parts and they were totally here for it!!

Craft Beer, a Sweet Tooth and a Love for the Outdoors

One of the first things Kyra and Jordan told me about themselves is that they love going for walks and hikes in the forest! They also love spending Summers outside by campfires, sailing, ATV’ing, or going to a cottage. They also love curling up on a lazy weekend day with some sweet snacks and a local craft beer(sours are their fave) – often with a puzzle or two in front of them! Before they met, Kyra had a huge love for travel. She’s visited over 25 countries and has been (lovingly) dragging Jordan along on the adventures over the past 4 years together. They are tying the knot this coming September at the Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre, and I’m so excited to see their big day!

Kyra and Jordan met through a mutual friend, at her wedding believe it or not! They didn’t officially get introduced until 6 months later at a birthday party with more mutual friends. Jordan stole Kyra’s number from one of said friends, and the rest is history! They went out for drinks at a local restaurant for their first date. They then spent the Summer going to lots of cottages and events together. After two apartments, a dog, buying our first home together, and a few trips later…Jordan proposed! And what a proposal it was…

When “Plan A” Turns into “Plan C”

Kyra’s parents have a sailboat at one of the Goderich marinas that the couple frequents in the Summers. They had planned a “very typical” Saturday. Kyra and Jordan packed up the car with the dog. They met Kyra’s parents at the market and then went for a 7km hike together after lunch. Unfortunately due to motor issues and a lack of wind that day, Jordan and Kyra’s parents had to go to plan C!

Jordan got down on one knee on the beach and asked Kyra to marry him. Kyra’s parents were on the ball, and they pretended to be taking photos of them together but were really videoing the proposal for them!

Jordan (who never cries) was choked up, and Kyra jokingly said, “you cried and I didn’t!”. Jordan replied “there’s still time”! We love a couple that can joke around in lifes big moments. Then, all 3 of Kyra’s sisters and Jordan’s family ran down onto the beach cheering! She had no idea they were there. It was so special to have both of their families surprising Kyra and being so happy to celebrate that moment together! Kyra was so surprised, and Jordan had planned a whole BBQ dinner there. They ended the night by watching one of the best sunsets on record for that summer, taking photos, and smiling and laughing with family.
