Do you have a cottage in Muskoka? Have you always thought that getting photos done at the cottage would be a great idea? Have you ever looked in to it? Most of the time, it is complicated, expensive and time consuming! There are not all that many photographers calling your little cottage village their home. So to get a photographer to drive in from somewhere like Huntsville or Bracebridge can costly with mileage and also challenging (Hello cottagers who don’t show up on google maps!). Add to that the extra complexity if you have a lake access cottages. And suddenly the idea of family portraits at your little slice of paradise starts to look really daunting! This is certainly how our family felt a number of years ago when we looked into family portraits on Kawagama Lake!
They took off so quickly and it has been an absolute blast photographing so many families on Kawagama Lake. If you have ever spent any time on a Lake in Muskoka you know, Muskoka cottages are so unique and different. Cottages on the same lake can be brand new all the way over 100 years old! Not only that but the topography surrounding the lake can be totally different, some cottages are on tall cliffs while others have level ground right to the lake.
In the last four years I have had the opportunity to photograph about 25 families on Kawagama Lake as well as a wedding and a few other events! These annual family portrait sessions are seriously some of my faves! I usually boat to about 75% which is so extra special, because those families with boat access cottages would never be able to get these shots otherwise!
Most of these shots have never gotten any blog love! So enjoy a scroll of some highlights!
