Ethan and Emily: A Magical Backyard Wedding in Zurich!

Have you ever had one of those moments where you feel about 100x older than you really are? Chatting with Emily when she was looking for a photographer was one of those moments! Emily contacted me late last year and I almost fell on the floor when she told me who her fiance was! I have known Ethan for most of his life! His mom; Julia and his Aunt Ginger coached me swimming for most of my childhood and their family has been in my life in one capacity or another for the better part of 20 years. To say I was honoured to be a part of their wedding is an understatement- I couldn’t be happier to join in their backyard wedding day in Zurich!

Emily may have the most infectious laugh I have ever encountered! She is the sweetest, happiest soul I’ve met in a very long time! It was such a pleasure getting to know her better over the last few months! She was most excited about her wedding dress! An incredible lace number, that most importantly had POCKETS!! Emily has diabetes which meant that pockets were particularly important so she could keep her insulin at hand!! She couldn’t help showing off her pockets to all of her family!!

As with most weddings this month; their plans changed dramatically- but it was seriously the best thing ever! Ethan’s Dad and brothers worked for hours creating a magical fairytale clearing in the woods with a woodchip floor and wild flower decor and little cafe lights around the circle!! Seriously scroll to the dances; their little reception space reminded me of Narnia or something! Ethan also made their wedding arch out of reclaimed barn beams himself and it was an incredible backdrop as they said their vows.
