When I first spoke with Katherine and Michael about their wedding day plans; they told me it was to be an intimate affair with just close family and friends. They also told me it was to be at the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory, at 6pm at the end of November. If you’ve started thinking about this at all- you’ll realize that it was after dark for the ceremony and portraits! Now as a mostly natural light photographer, several things went through my mind at this time… 1- OMGEE the butterfly conservatory is stunning. 2- what a fantastic way to avoid the cold! 3- Oh man we are gonna need some flash!
Well the day of their wedding came and we had spent several phone calls finalizing their timeline to make sure we had some daylight portraits prior to their ceremony as well as more time for beautiful portraits inside the conservatory. When I arrived at their home it was snowing, but not *just* snowing. It was like Hallmark movie snowing, big beautiful flakes with not much wind. We were able to get some incredible snowy shots outdoors and then we headed to the conservatory. What an incredibly unique and beautiful venue! The ceremony and portraits were just incredible. All in all it was the perfect day!
